McAllen, TX, January 25, 2018MDC Data Centers, the leading carrier-neutral colocation provider on the US-Mexico border, today announced the completion of its acquisition of one Verizon data center in the city of El Paso, Texas. MDC has a proven record of success in the colocation industry and has managed to connect all the major Mexico networks in their data centers.

The purpose-built data center, located at 11455 Cedar Oak Drive, totals more than 10,000 square feet of space and 800 kilowatts (kW) of critical, IT power with additional power available. The building also features a cell tower and connectivity to its former landlord, Verizon.

“MDC has experienced increased demand for reliable colo and carrier-neutral interconnection services on the border,” said Juan Salazar, CEO of MDC Data Centers. “El Paso is an important interconnection hub for Mexico and the World. We are very happy to enter this market with the MDC signature of customer centricity, neutrality, and top-notch services.”

This MDC facility brings diversity and choice to the colocation market in El Paso with a unique carrier-neutral model featuring redundant access to the company’s fiber crossing solutions connecting El Paso to the city of Juarez, in Mexico.

This diversity and choice are further strengthened by partners such as FiberLight who announced previously that it has committed to building new fiber routes into MDC’s new data centers, including El Paso.

The company has long been recognized as the Gateway to Mexico for global network operators due to its successful interconnection-first, carrier-neutral colocation data center model in the city of McAllen. Today, MDC Data Centers has established its presence in McAllen, Laredo, and El Paso.
