G-Core Labs S.A., an international provider of cloud and edge solutions based in Luxembourg, has officially selected MDC Data Centers to establish a new point of presence as part of their strategy to develop network infrastructure to service Latin America.

The company recently announced its mission to establish new points of presence in the region to tackle the difficult problem of transmitting heavy-demand content, like online gaming, securely and at low latencies.

G-Core Labs’ content delivery network includes more than 100 points of presence spanning over 5 continents, more than 70 cities, and boasts over 5000 peering partners with a network capacity of 50+Tbit/sec.

G-Core Labs’ new expansion into MDC Data Centers in McAllen, TX allows the company to tap into the neutral ecosystem where the majority of Mexican networks come for interconnection and peering. This point of presence positions G-Core Labs S.A. strategically to serve Mexico, which is home to the largest digital gaming market in Latin America, valued at $1.8 billion USD in 2019, even outperforming countries like Brazil or Argentina.

MDC has long been recognized as the gateway to Mexico, offering colocation services in several border cities in Texas and Arizona, coupled with international fiber crossings and a unique approach to neutrality. MDC also operates the MEX-IX, an internet exchange that services the Mexican market that recently set a record for peak traffic by reaching 130Gbps.

“G-Core Labs’ first-class performance for low-latency applications will substantially improve the experience of end-users in Mexico, particularly for gamers and streamers in general,” said Joel Pacheco, CRO of MDC Data Centers. “The benefit also extends to our growing community in the MEX-IX that now has G-Core Labs available for public peering.”
